Today we were in Grand Forks, ND, Casey's hometown. When we got to Casey's place last night she was pretty open about the fact that she had no food in her house. She wasn't kidding. She really didn't have anything except a giant purple onion, some orange juice, string cheese, and some ice pops. The ice pops were this kind, which she swore were "Otter Pops for grown ups." She said this because the wrapper claimed they were frozen sorbet treats, & so that translated to grown up food. I sort of doubted that translation, especially since there was a cartoon penguin on the wrapper...and the cartoon penguin was wearing a hat, scarf, and sunglasses, and was skating around. If you go to the ice pop link you'll see that even Del Monte thinks the pops are for kids. Hahahaha. But really...no matter who you think the ice pops are actually marketed towards, they are tasty summer treats. I recommend them.
So this morning we went out for breakfast at Dakota Harvest Bakers. It's on the main street in Grand Forks, I think. It was cute...sort of like a Great Harvest Bread....but with more local charm. For example they liked to boast about the fact that they used local ingredients, and so there were wrappers of these ingredients up on the wall.
Impressively, since we're in carnivore country, they had a vegetarian breakfast option. Actually they had multiple since you could just get toast with a variety of spreads.
After working & then shopping for a variety of things we needed...we ended the day at The Blue Moose, in East Grand Forks. East Grand Forks is actually in Minnesota. The Red River runs between the two towns, and we just zipped right over to Minnesota for dinner tonight. I like that. Easy crossings between states...without any crazy Agriculture Stop & without having to drive forever just to get of the state you live in.
The Versa is packed up and ready to go. We head off tomorrow for our adventure at The Corn Palace! & We'll actually be vlogging tomorrow. Stay tuned!
What fun! Have a great time :)
